Blanche Meets With Epstein Accusers & America’s Asylum System

View descriptionShare

Guest Host: John Gerardi

AP reports that Todd Blanche’s path to becoming attorney general depends in part on addressing concerns from Jeffrey Epstein’s accusers. Sen. Thom Tillis made direct engagement with victims a condition for his support, leading Blanche to meet with survivors. While Blanche argued the Justice Department remains committed to pursuing evidence and seeking justice, several survivors left the meeting dissatisfied and continued urging senators to oppose his confirmation.

Dan McLaughlin's National Review essay argues that the U.S. asylum system no longer functions as intended. He contends that outdated laws and overwhelming case volumes have weakened the distinction between humanitarian protection and broader immigration policy. The article calls for reforms that would preserve asylum for genuine refugees while making the system more consistent with U.S. national interests and border-enforcement goals.
